The Methodist Church – Shaped For Mission

It’s time to big up the church that I am a part of and share some of the exciting things it is involved in. After all it is a discipleship movement shaped for mission, well that is what it says it on their new website. The annual conference of the church start today in Plymouth. This year some of the topics that will be discussed include the use of unmanned drones in warfare, the fruitful field project (how Methodists learn), and an Education Commission Report.

If you have a smart phone you can keep up to date with what is happening in the Methodist church through the Methodist App which is available for Android and Apple phones. It not only provides news, but a daily prayer and bible reading, twitter and Facebook feeds, a number of blog links, campaigns and contact details. I can recommend the daily prayer as I have been using it for a number of years.

The church is far from perfect but it does seem to be moving towards a mission shaped discipleship movement. Our purpose is to follow in the footsteps of Jesus and to live out that life in word and action. In short we are striving to bring the Kingdom values into the here and now, or as Christian Aid puts it, “we believe in life before death”.
