Twenty years ago a group of people had the idea of providing a simple bowl of soup and a pudding to people in the village of Kingsley, Cheshire. They are still going strong today providing hospitality and a place to meet friends and “natter”. It has also raised in excess of £23,000 in its time to good causes locally, nationally and internationally. I don’t know how many gallons of soup, and how many kilos of crumbles and pies they have got through in this time but it would certainly feed an army or two. The thing that has impressed me the most is the dedication and commitment of the volunteers who without fail each month provide the food, the transport, the general organisation and the waiting on.
Forgive the pun, but this isn’t a flash in the pan, but long term commitment that has created community and care and love in Kingsley. Remember preach the gospel at all times, if necessary use words!
