Baptism

Isobel is being baptised tomorrow at The Hurst in our family service. Although there is always a chance that her older brother may upstage her!

I have performed literally hundreds of baptisms over my ministry so far but still the moment you make the gospel real for that individual is very moving. I look into their eyes and tell them that “for you Jesus Christ came into this world”. I know they won’t understand and some of them are asleep but it is powerful all the same. The child is being given the best gift imaginable at that point. In baptism the desire is to walk a Christ centred life, orientated towards selfless living. No baptised child or adult is perfect, they simply strive to walk the path of Jesus and put aside selfish ways.

The other high point of the service is when the congregation join in the words of blessing.

Superb!!!
